One of my favorite jokes

June 6, 2010

Taking a cue from Anne at AJD plus Three who does a Sunday Funny, I thought I’d share a little joke I love with you.

A man and his wife of 55 years go to a doctors appointment to find out results for tests he’d had done. The doctor asks the wife to come in first, and says gravely, “I have good news and bad news. The bad news is, your husband is very, very ill. He could easily die at any moment.”

“Oh my land,” says his wife, starting to cry. “What on earth is the good news?”

“Well, he can live a much longer time if you are willing to take some precautions.”

“Anything!” she sobs.

The doctor opens his chart. “He is to have no stress, of any kind, for at least a year. He needs to be catered to at all times, to have his every whim granted and to be cared for 24-7. He needs to be praised frequently and to take long vacations by himself or with a friend or two. He must not be told no or have any kind of argument. I can guarantee he will live if you do all this for him.” He closes the chart and helps her out to where her husband anxiously waits.

“What is it, what did he say?” he asks.

She looks him square in the eye and replies, “He said you’re going to die.”

Happy Sunday! Now go grab your husband a beer and prop his feet up so he’s comfortable watching TV. 🙂
