11 months – a tad late.

October 21, 2010

Where do I start? You have become so much a part of our lives these past 11 months – to the point where I honestly have no idea what we did without you.

How we love your quick smile. The way you shake your whole body back and forth to watch me do it too, and then laugh with delight. Daddy and I love the way you talk, from our names to the endless “bababababa”‘s that go on in your crib and the backseat while we drive. We always look at each other while you do this and crack up.

You are walking, and you are so proud. I adore the way you want to walk, fight to do it every moment you can. You know when I lift you away from me on the floor that you are going to leap forward and then collapse into my arms and wait for kisses.

You eat with your hands – often your entire hand for things like noodles. You love to drop it all on the floor to entice kitty over to your chair so you can watch him sniff it. You eat just about anything, although my curry was a total fail.

It’s cute how when you hate something you scream in horror at it being in your mouth and then spit in out between pursed lips.

As for the kitties, Mews is beginning to love you. She understands that you simply want to play with her, even if it means grabbing her tail. She comes around and flips over for you and meows loudly. You like to crawl after her and bonk your head on her side – which she thinks is being pet so really a win win.

You are starting to remember people, much to the delight of family and friends. You have favorites for different times of the day – only Daddy needs to get you in the morning and at night when you wake up hearing him come home. Only he will do forΒ those times. And only I will do for a sad time, or when you are tired or want to be cuddled. You love when we are together, nothing makes you happier than to be snuggled between us in bed as we marvel at your perfection.

Unless you are hugged when you don’t feel like being hugged. Then you push away with your hands and throw yourself backwards.

I have no idea where your being so opinionated came from. I’m such an easy going mom… πŸ˜‰

You love to sit for 2o minutes at a time and read your books in your room. Oddly enough, you know the right way they go (you will turn them if they are upside down) and you turn pages. You babble to yourself happily as you pull each book out of the shelf in your room. It’s really adorable.

At playdates you are a very cautious child. I worry at times about it, because other kids seem to be able to fight back, or not burst into tears at someone using them to stand up – but you are a sensitive child. Hopefully as we go to more you get a little more used to this, but you do share well, and are gentle and kind to the others. We have a fun group of friends and I love watching them interact with you.

You are the only one with no teeth (still!) but you were one of the first to walk. Everyone was very excited for you.

Overall, you are a very content, happy, observant and curious child. You are quick to obey when you understand something, and take a great deal of time studying people and things seriously. Everywhere we go, people comment on what a lovely child you are, and it’s true. You are a beautiful little girl, inside and out. We love your personality and the joy it’s brought to our home.

With all our love (because Daddy helped write this too),

Daddy and Momma

Awww, I love that little sad face!! Was that the curry face? She really is a delightful child. I’m not biased at all, you know. On that note, I have prepped John, and he’s getting ready for the engagement. In case I forgot to tell you . . .

Um, we already ordered her wedding dress – size to be determined. So…

I odn’t know if that was the curry face – I’m trying to figure out what had some kind of black seed in it or something.

I totally just teared up over here! I think it’s fantastic that some day Bella can read all these letters from her parents and know just what she was doing and how she was when she was a baby. Don’t we all want to know that when we have our first kid? Beautiful post.

It’s so crazy how similar and yet so different our little ones are! Oliver does practially the same face when he doesn’t like what’s for dinner. Sweet letter… πŸ™‚

It’s funny how many times I think, “Bella does that too!” when I look at other babies her age. When she doesn’t like something, you know.
