Rain and Hints of Baby-ness

July 10, 2012

So apparently in July it rains here. Quite often. I remember when we moved here last summer that we would get storms so bad Sam and I literally thought the skylights in the kitchen and hall would crash in on us. We’d eventually head to Bella’s room convinced at any moment the deafening thunder would wake her, but she’d sleep peacefully through the entire thing.

Yet the clink of the teapot wakes her up in the morning…

Today it poured, but in one of those torrential-and-then-not kind of downpours. Bella and I threw blankets down in the playroom and listened to it pound against the roof, then after it let up a bit and started to clear off, I let her go outside for a few minutes.

I took some shots of her and this is one of my favorites – she’s catching the rain falling from the roof. She was so excited about this.

Isn’t she just adorable? A tiny hint of baby is still left. Not much. But just a little. Enough.

Life as a new military wife – whatever branch – takes some serious adjusting time. Read what I wish I’d known both as a Marine and now Army wife.

This picture just melts my heart. What a precious reminder that even everyday things are wondrous. Toddlers show us the world through pure, fresh eyes.

I think we’re heading your way in a few months. It’s good to get a glimpse of what the weather will be like.

That is a simply stunning photo!

I love big heavy rainfalls like that. We’re in the middle of a hot, dry spell, so I very much look forward to our next rain storm. Maybe I’ll even go out and play in it with the toddler! 🙂

Love that pic! It’s a good thing I made a pact with my son to stay tiny forever. He agreed, I know he did… well… he didn’t actually say anything when we made the pact because I think he was only 5 months old at the time but his silence definitely told me he agreed to it. 😉 Bella is such a beauty!
