The Moment You Think About as a Mom

October 6, 2012

Today I sat on the floor while Bella played, looking at local pumpkin patches on my phone. Suddenly I felt her little arms thrown around me, and she said in my ear, “I love you Mama.”

And wow. What a feeling to hear your daughter say that, unprompted and not in response to anything. I can’t tell you the number of times I wondered when that would happen with her. What it would be like to hear her little voice say it and mean it.

It really takes the sting out of her saying, “Dada” first. 😉

Oh there’s nothing quite like that unprovoked “i love you” from one of your kiddos, is there? I’m almost teary eyed (okay, I really do have tears in my eyes) as I recall some sweet words from my boys. I appreciate you reminding me to keep that in my heart.

Oh! That is so lovely, Diana! I can’t wait until Charlotte says that to me. Right now we’re just like, “I love you Charlotte! Can you say I love you?” Hugs to Miss Bella!

It’s such a good feeling!! I appreciate it so much more when my 12 year old does that because I realize that those times are so few and far between.

I swear kids know exactly when you need something like this. I hope she says it everyday from here on out. 🙂

    So true!

Mine all said dada first. My youngest, age 4, comes out of bed each night just to say I Love You!

I try not to be upset for getting out of bed and embrace it.
