Today you are 4. You went to sleep and woke up so excited about this fact. You’ve waited through so many other friend’s birthdays this year – and it’s finally your turn.
You are truly a gift and blessing to us. Daddy and I have said over and over again this year we don’t know what we would do without you. It’s true. When we were in Dallas for 2 1/2 weeks with Kaden, we missed your presence so much it hurt.
I’m so sorry this year has been so hard – again. I’m so sorry that I’m writing this to you as you watched another little brother go to heaven and are left to pick up the pieces and try to sort them out. I know it’s not our fault but man – it sure feels like it at times. You are such a strong, happy little girl. So patient and kind. You have such a tender heart to pain now. I hope one day you’ll look back on all of this and see it shaped you to be an amazing human being.
You are a wonderful big sister, something you ask about every day. And it’s true – no matter where your brothers are, you are still their big sister. One day you’re going to see them in heaven and get to make mud pies, run, play trucks, and talk about me behind my back – just like you all would have here. 🙂
Being 3 was such a fun year. You’ve made so many little friends of all ages. You love to play outside and especially in the dirt. Your favorite meal is plain noodles with parmesan cheese, putting to shame my smug “mom of a one year old” thoughts of how making organic baby food would mean we wouldn’t go through this phase.
You are a firecracker, your energy is limitless. Daddy has taught you how to run and throw a ball like a champ. You can run a full mile with him. That is amazing. You love to snuggle up and read stories with me before bed, to do all kinds of crafts. You love Chelsey, your sitter since early this year. She’s been such a blessing to us and you these months.
You adore Winnie the Pooh – “the old one”, the dragon from Doc McStuffins, and Olivia the Pig books. You still don’t care for dolls often, and the dollhouse we bought you for Christmas is used for “kitty eggs” or cotton balls. You love bugs, so much. Any bugs. You love to catch flies for our toad Tolva and I think that is so nasty. Daddy just laughs.
Hours are spent playing in your room each week. You have such a wild imagination that anywhere we go you find a whole setup to play with. You love to wrestle outside with Daddy and Charlie. You hate when Charlie looks at you, so we spend a lot of our days talking about how dogs don’t understand eye contact. Jynx, our oldest cat, is your buddy as long as you have a blue blanket over you to lay on.
We hope you will read this one day and know how much you are loved by so many wonderful people who know you – in our lives and through this little blog of mine.
I love you darling.
