A few months ago, in the midst of my pregnancy with Kaden, Land of Nod (I KNOW) contacted me about collaborating on a project. I was swamped at the time, we were getting ready to move to North Carolina, etc, so I told them that I’d love to once things settled down.
Fast forward to October, when everything had changed and yet stayed so much the same. I reached back out to them with an idea about doing a homeschool room for Bella. We have a huge 4th bedroom at the front of our new home that I’d designated for school anyway, but was struggling to figure out what to put in there for her. It had to be childlike, inviting, and yet something she could grow up with. It also had to work for us moving around so much, and be functional for us both.
I felt after looking at their stuff for so long that they would be so perfect for this kind of thing. My idea was so different and yet their products are a great fit for childhood education and transition through the years.
So for the past 2ish months, we’ve been sending a ton of emails back and forth working on the room for Bella (and me!). Their amazing team planned a mood board with all the items they had in mind, and I was able to approve each. They asked about Bella, her interests, our ideas in education, my design style, how “schooly” I wanted the room, etc. They were absolutely incredible.
But the best part? (Because yes, it can get better.) Then they asked if we would consider being a Real Family – featured in their February catalog.
What does this mean? They’ll be flying a design/stylist team out in two weeks to set up all the product at our home. Then they’ll photograph the room and us, get our story, and we’ll be on their site and print catalog in January.
I don’t even know.
I’m so freaking excited. I can’t believe this is happening. Any of it. And that Bella is going to have an entire homeschool room designed around her interests and my style of teaching – for her whole childhood. I keep waiting for someone to pinch me to wake up.
I’ll be blogging/Instagramming/tweeting the entire thing. I’m eager to meet everyone they send out, to see this whole process take place in our home. To start the new year with a school room in our home that we can escape to and read, learn, create.
So that’s my big news. I can’t wait to show it to you all, and have you see all the ideas we came up with for your own homeschool spaces. Big or small.
Land of Nod team – you’ll never have any idea how much it means to us for you all to work with our family on something so special. Thank you.
