It’s 8am here, and Sam and Bella are still passed out in the beds, so I snuck out to get Charlie up and have a few moments to myself. I love having all of us home for long weekends like this one, but I also crave alone time during it as well. So instead of being cranky that I didn’t get a chance to write or drink coffee in silence, I carved out that time.
Maybe in my old age I’m learning some self discipline.
So what’s new – let me see. Well, coming home from California we had an oversold flight in Vegas. Bella and I gave up our seats for a flight an hour later, and scored two tickets to anywhere Southwest flies, anytime. That was pretty sweet.
We had such a great time out there. Went to the beach, got sunburned and now it’s a nice tan, ate at the Cheesecake Factory, shopped at Half Moon Bay, celebrated my grandma turning 90 – really it was all perfect. On the day we went to the beach, we also stopped at this random sculpture place that had these huge, metal dinosaurs just hanging out in the front. We let Bella just roam around between them, I honestly think she was so excited and shocked she didn’t even know what to do.
Sam had been gone since the Monday before we left, so it had been 9 days since we’d seen him. Charlie, however, was even more excited to see us. He proceeded to whine and bark all night knowing I was home.
Here are some pics from our trip! Happy 4th of July!
