The past few days we’ve soaked up every bit of togetherness before Sam leaves. Last night, he made banana bread and since I can’t bake to save my life I made coffee 😉 – then we sat outside with Bella for a while.

Yes. That mug is my absolute, most inappropriate favorite ever. It’s all of our cats personalities captured at 1am as they barrel up and down the stairs meowing.

So after he goes, I may refer to this time as temporary solo parenting (TSP lol) and I hope that doesn’t imply I’m trying to single parent, because I realize I still have him as a partner, and I have an income, etc. So TSP seemed like a better fit for a while.

Besides having him gone, one of the most stressful things for me is trying to make sure I get done what needs to be done. Bella has a field trip next week I’m taking Char on. She has a birthday party for a classmate coming up. We have the pets, the lawn, the garden, the front yard, the trees, the cars, grocery shopping, the dentist, doctor appts, my school stuff, and somehow I need to be able to find a way to still go to therapy once a week.

So I don’t lose the rest of my mind 😂

It’s a lot. I try to remind myself that sometimes things will just have to be good enough. As long as everyone is fed, picked up, safe, our sprinklers don’t do anything crazy, the truck works, and the air doesn’t give out again – we should be ok.

I’ve done it with Bella for months, and while pregnant with both the twins and Kaden. That was horrific – how sick I was and then trying to care for a little one. Ugh. I think we’ll find a good routine outside of school hours. I’m so thankful for Bella’s school right now, what a blessing to have a firm schedule for her and us during this time.

On another note, I’m helping a family in Houston whose entire life was pretty much taken by the flood. It’s a single mom with 3 kids, one is an infant. They have no transportation due to their car being ruined. They need much more than just Sam and I can give, so I asked on FB if anyone would be interested in choosing from an Amazon list to send them things. It’s going directly to a friend of hers who gives her mail. I tried to include a variety of price points and list from highest to medium priority. She also has an 8-year-old and a teen (both girls) who are heading back to school soon and need clothes, shoes, supplies, etc.

Thank you so much for any help you can give. Let me know in the comments or email me if you have something else you’d like to send.

Good enough is good enough. You have this but never expect it to be the same as when Sam is around to help. That’s a difficult standard to meet.
