Helping Mason

November 12, 2010

By now most of you have probably seen the button on the side of my blog with Mason’s happy little face. His mom Dana writes The Sears Fam blog. She is also @DanaSearsFam on Twitter, where we do most of our interacting. I’ve been following their story for a while now.

She has a husband and 3 gorgeous little boys. Mason has been going through so much testing and dozens (if not more) of doctors visits to find out what is going on with him. From what they can tell, he seems to be have high functioning autism. And you know what that means. In our society, if you don’t have it, your insurance sure as heck isn’t going to pay for any of it.

Dana, the sweetheart that she is, takes care of everything at home while her husband works his tail off to keep his job and bring home the money for the medical bills. They struggle with costs of around $100 a day just in medical expenses alone.

I’m asking you to read their story, especially Mason’s Riddle. Follow her blog, support her on Twitter, and if you feel led, donate some money to their family – for Christmas, for Mason, for her, to stick it to the insurance companies that want to eat us alive… Whatever. There are also several different companies donating money to them from the proceeds of sales if you buy their products.

This little boy needs to have a family that can simply focus on him. His brothers need the same thing. We all know how hard it is to be our best when money issues loom over everything we do. Now imagine not knowing what is wrong with your little boy as you deal with thousands of dollars in bills each month.

Thanks for reading, please click over and follow Dana on her blog and get to know their family.

Oh, and please “Like” and/or Tweet this below, so that you can get the word out about Mason through Facebook and Twitter as well. 🙂
