Halfway through! {questions & a linky}

November 16, 2011

Well here we are. Halfway through NaBloPoMo.

I’ve got to say, it’s been fun to do this the past 2+ weeks. At times, a tad overwhelming as I suddenly remember, “Oh my goodness, the blog post.” But in general, it’s been nice to push myself in my writing and to start to remember things I’d normally let slide – because I know it’ll make a good post.

It’s also forced me to take a hard look at my writing. What do I want to do with it? Where do I want this to go next year? I’m starting to set goals to write for places I’ve grown to love reading this year.

I’m glad I did this, but the second half will be much harder than the first. Thanksgiving and all the craziness that goes with that even though it’s just the three of us. Which I’m looking forward to, as much as I miss family.

Who’s still going? How are you coming up with ideas and making this work in between the upcoming holidays and general rush of life? What has this taught you? Will you take a break December 1st or keep going everyday?

Also – link up your posts so we all can come by and visit!

We’re halfway there! ::throws e-confetti::

    For the first half of 2011 I was blogging every day, but I had some personal stuff going on and decided to take a break for a little bit. I’ve enjoyed using the motivation to get back into it, though it’s been harder than I thought it would be … especially since I decided that I’d post about something I’m grateful for every day.

    I’m still hanging on. I’ve definitely started to slow down but mostly because the things I want to write, I’m not sure I want to share. We shall see how brave I get as the journey continues.

    I’m still going and I’m going to try to keep going in December. Posting everyday is making me doubt my blogging a bit and making me wonder if I have anything to say that is worth reading 🙂 At the same time, it feels like it’s a good way to get in the habit. I agree with Jen- I need to post more everyday stuff and not worry so much about my posts have a “point.”

    I have been doing pretty good. I think there was 3 days where I didn’t blog because I really had nothing to say and didn’t want to just write filler.

    I find that I am thinking through ideas more now and writing them down as they come to me. Trying to pull more little things from my every day life rather than posts having to be these massive big things

    Hey! Still here! I knew it would be a challenge with my birthday, Oliver’s birthday, Thanksgiving, etc. life crap, but that’s why I went for it… to make myself WRITE. So YAY!

    I have a bunch of half-assed drafts that I tap out before I forget… random thoughts I get during the day… I’ll go thru every night and see what still makes sense and elaborate for the next day.

    Maybe I should write a post about run-on sentences?

    It’s weird, I’m finding I’m writing more like a journal of my days instead of a post per topic if that makes sense. I’m not sure I prefer it, but that’s the way it’s been going for me.

    Still going, but it is hard coming up with topics. Boy, is it hard. I even baked a cake so I could have a topic. LOL! But I’m going to power through. I doubt I keep this up past Dec 1, but I do intend to blog at least 2-3 times a week from now on. 🙂

    I find that doing this has pushed me to rediscover my love of writing and making my blog better. In the last 15 days, I have changed the title of my blog and the subtitle/description. I’ve added some widgets I didn’t have before. My goal is to make my blog a place people want to visit and read. 🙂

    Half way through and I’m still hanging on! It’s definitely been difficult trying to find something to write about on occasion. I’ve been using Plinky and the writing prompts on the NaBloPoMo site when I’m stuck for ideas. My husband has been so helpful to remind me to post before the end of the day.

    I think the holidays are going to give me a lot to write about. I may just scratch down a post on paper and type it up when I have a free second instead of waiting until I’m at the computer and then have to think up a post.

    I’m not planning on giving myself the day off come December 1st but it won’t be the end of the world if I do. I’m actually really enjoying the challenge and it’s definitely shown me that I need to make time for my writing.

    Good luck everyone!
