Full Feeds and Posts via Email

December 2, 2011

Yesterday, I was emphatically told on Facebook that most of you dislike partial feeds in your reader and in your email.

I understand. I do. I dislike them as well, although I do have several bloggers that do it, and I love them so much I go over any way. But there isn’t anything nicer than curling up with a cup of (decaf ::sad face::) tea and reading The Pioneer Woman in the evenings on my phone.

As gorgeous as her site is to go to.

I think the hard part is, I love having people come over and stay for a while. I felt as if a full post in a reader would mean you’d never come back. Never see my site, the changes, the updates, or be part of the community we’ve formed. You’d read and delete.

But I thought about how wonderful you guys have been over the years here, how often you email me with encouragement and stories, how many times you’ve supported this blog – and I realized that the very least I could do was make it easier to read. So I have switched to a full feed. Readers who subscribe will have (hopefully) seen the changes today.

For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, in the middle column to the right (top) there is an email subscription link. Under where you can email me, find me on Twitter, etc. If you type in your email, you’ll get my posts once a day; usually in the morning. In the posts there are links to come over and leave a comment or simply check out something else I’m talking about.

There is no spam, nothing but just the post delivered to you. And it’s all done through Feedburner – not something I have your email for.

I have this for the majority of my favorite bloggers and it’s wonderful. I am reminded in my email at the end of the day who I haven’t read yet, and can go comment when I have a chance. Or forward the email to a friend. Or highlight it to share with you all on Facebook.

Hope that helps with easier, more enjoyable reading; and you’ll still come over and leave me your thoughts!

Yay!!!! When you first switched over I was like “Man!!!! why did she do that???? I figured it had something to do with not coming to the sight when we could just read you whole post in reader. I always read from reader.. but! there are some things that can’t be seen in reader.. (i won’t name them since we all know what they are!) and so every few posts I find myself missing the color and that AWESOME pic of you…. and so I just have to click over. For me it’s like… I wanna have the option. BUT… when you were in partial feed.. I still read every post. 🙂 Love ya the same either way. I knew you had a reason even though it was inconvenient sometimes!! 🙂

I hate partial feeds…it actually deters me from reading a blog. I have my reader set up with ‘Read First’ as a category and in there are the blogs I read and comment on the most. I still go over to every one of those blogs even though I can read the full post in my reader!

I have always hated partial feeds, but I looked past it because I love your blog so much. 😉 And don’t you worry, I’ll still be coming over to visit. 🙂

Haha! You know what’s funny? I switched to partial feed after I noticed that you and Kim and a couple others did it. I think I will switch back too. Cause I know I like it better when I can just read the whole thing in my email. Damn the comments….

I’ll still come over 🙂 I’m a full feed lover and partial feed hater, but I always make sure to click over when I have something I want to say 🙂

    So thanks for switching!
