I know. It sounds so cliché and Pinterest-y and all, but I honestly can’t wait for fall this year.
Want to know a little secret?
I am beginning to love living here. In fact, the thought of being stationed somewhere else in a year and a half makes me a little sad. Winter is the best here. Usually 50’s and 60’s, it’s the summer of everywhere else. We have 8 months to go out, visit things, be outside, and explore here and New Mexico. It’s crisp and cool and yet warm enough to spend the evenings out on the back porch. There are a few days of snow, nights where we crank up the fire, mornings that cause us to burrow tighter under the covers until the heat kicks on.
I used to think moving here I would desperately miss Colorado winters, which started in October and ended in April/May. But honestly – I don’t. 8 months of frigid, icy, freezing winter took a toll on my sanity after a while. Gorgeous? Yes. Fun with kids? No. There is only so much you can enjoy through a window.
We have a ton to do this fall after having already been here for one. It’s like the desert area just explodes back to life after September leaves. Farms open to visitors, farmers markets stretch out a little longer, children head back to school and leave the things we love empty for us to explore.
Boots, fires, hot cider, crockpots, sweaters, storms, scarves, pink cheeks, football, leaves…
Something really awesome happened yesterday with the adoption. Find out what here.
