What God Made You to Be

November 14, 2014
Hey there, this one goes out to all the sweet mamas! Go grab a cup of coffee and let’s chat for a bit ok? My name is Kara-Kae (but you can call me KK!) and I blog over at The Mom Diggity and have the honor of running Thrive Moms. I am the mama to three precious girls, ages four and under. Yeah, I have my hands quite full. I’m honored to share a little of my heart today and hope to encourage you as a mom!

My girls recently got the book “Are you my mother?”. If you aren’t familiar with this classic, a baby bird is on the hunt for his mother. He comes across many different animals and even a giant “snort”, only to keep discovering they aren’t his mother. Spoiler alert: he finds his mother and all is well. Such a cute book, and such a good lesson that kept jumping out to me as I read it over and over to my girls.

If you are anything like me (and most likely you are), I battle with wondering if I’m a good enough mom. Sometimes I wonder if I have what it takes to be the best mother to my babies. Maybe you didn’t have a good relationship with your own mother, so you fear you will fall short. Maybe you work full time and struggle with guilt that you aren’t able to spend enough time with your kids. Or maybe you (a lot like me) fear that you can’t pour enough individual attention into each one of your children.

But you know what? It’s time to stop that. They are lies.

God creates us to be the mom specifically wired for the children He gives us.

So put down the guilt. Pack away the fear. Those are lies and false “mothers” that satan will trick you with. If your children start questioning if those things are their mother, then you will lead them on a course of believing the lie as well.

Live in freedom. Live in the truth.

You are exactly what God made you to be. Should I say that again so it will sink in?? YOU ARE EXACTLY WHAT GOD MADE YOU TO BE. And are you falling short? That’s where grace comes in. Thank goodness for His overwhelming and never ending grace. Man, I sure need a heaping scoop of that grace on a daily basis!

My goal as a wife and mother? This:

Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies.

I want to be that virtuous and capable wife and mother. It’s not easy. A woman like this is rare. Precious. But I CAN be a woman like this, because that’s what God created me to be.

And what happens when I keep that as my goal? This happens:

Proverbs 31:28-29 Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!”

I want that! Don’t you?? It’s not that I’m better than any other mom out there. That’s not what that means. It’s that I surpass anyone that could be the best mom and wife for MY family. You know how I keep saying He created you specifically for yours? There you have it.

Now go out there, and be that woman.
