Camping with the Stones

April 5, 2017

We’re going camping.

I’m not sure why we’re doing this other than to have a new experience, because when we tried to camp out in our backyard last year, Char ended up in her crib inside and I followed around 12am when I thought my hip would explode in pain from sleeping on an air mattress.

But we have all the stuff. A huge tent. A small stove. Sleeping bags. I’ll be using a cot this time. Pack n Play for Char.

Our site will be at the spot Sam and Bella go fishing all the time, not to far from us. We’re also bringing Charlie and many kinds of mosquito repellent. Because we’ll be right next to a lake.

I figure even if it all goes wrong, it’ll make some pretty fun memories no matter what. Maybe a lot of itching, but a lot of memories.

Things that may happen:

  • being eaten alive by mosquitos
  • not getting any sleep
  • having the wind/rain/dust kick up
  • realizing at 2am this was a terrible idea
  • realizing at 10am this was a great idea
  • missing April the giraffe give birth

lolololol 😂😂

Don’t tell me you wouldn’t think about that. I have that video pulled up on my tabs right this moment so I can check in. I’ve invested too much time in her to let this go now.

Oh, I’m actually excited in a way about camping. It’s just a different, offbeat experience and those make me a little weirded out until we do them and realize we can do them. Especially as Char gets older, things like this become quite a bit easier with her. That first year of a little one’s life – whew. Man does that do a number on everyone for a while. I miss her squishy newborn phase, but having her at an age where she isn’t completely dependent on me to do everything but blink is nice too.

If you want to follow along with our trip, I’ll be posting in IG stories and pics as we go along. Something is bound to happen. Maybe I’ll hashtag it #thoughtsandprayerscampingwiththeStones bwahahahaha

    These are the reasons
we only camp with our Cub Scout pack! A. people to borrow stuff from when we realize we forgot all the most useful stuff and B. other kids to play with and planned activities because what do you do in the woods with no electronics???? But we love our Cub Scout campouts and we only go twice a year, one night in the fall and one night in the spring. My kids can say we went camping when they were little!

You are brave! My idea of camping is a,Holiday Inn instead of a Hyatt.
